The film, which is a sequel to Hannam’s earlier short Wildfire, which won the Best Short Film prize at the Screen Nova Scotia Awards in 2020, stars Phillip Lewitski as Lincoln, a young man in his late teens who was raised separately from his maternal Mi’kmaq heritage by his abusive white father Arvin (Joel Thomas Hynes); after learning that his mother Sarah, whom he had long been told was dead, is actually still alive, he takes his younger half-sibling, who They encounter the openly bisexual Pasmay (Joshua Odjick) along the way, who serves as both Lincoln’s liaison with his native origins and a love interest.
